About

In 1986, following the conclusion of CRISIS ON INFINITE EARTHS, DC Comics relaunched Superman continuity with writer/artist John Byrne as the main creative force. Byrne laid the foundation for the acclaimed Post-Crisis era that is also often known as “The Triangle Era.” The best known storyline from this incarnation is The Death and Return of Superman, boasting the talents of Dan Jurgens, Jerry Ordway, Roger Stern, Louise Simonson, Karl Kesel, Brett Breeding, Tom Grummett, Jackson Guice, Jon Bogdanove, Doug Hazelwood, Denis Rodier, and Dennis Janke.

This page pays tribute to every Post-Crisis Superman comic on the 40th anniversary of its release. (With the “XL” in the title representing the Roman numerals for “40.”)
